The brief
Our brief was to create a card box with the shape and appearance of a treasure chest. A particularly important feature was a curved top to resemble the lid of a treasure chest. The product was to be sold into schools through a mail order arrangement and, because of its use by small children, the product had to be attractive, easy to use and of robust construction.
The answer
KMD, in co-operation with a graphic design company, produced a prototype with estimated costings. It became clear at the prototype development stage that a curved top could not be provided within the agreed budget figure. To resolve this problem an 'E' flute litho lamination was used from which it was possible to produce an angular top with a Velcro fixing catch.
The approval
The client was able to approve the size, choice of materials, construction, graphic design and costings and placed an order. The client has subsequently re-ordered several times.
