The brief
SAAB wanted to make a special presentation to managers of their main dealer network. The presentation was to be in the form of a cardboard pallet that would hold a sales folder, a mug, coaster, jotter pad and a pen. The pallet would have to be constructed in cardboard, it would be delivered by post and would resemble the type of pallet that SAAB use for the delivery of their spare parts.
At the prototype stage we had to consider the different sizes and shapes of the mug, pen, folder, etc, the need to ensure the pallet was of a suitable size for posting and that the items themselves would be well protected during transit. The order value was quite small and so we were required to produce the prototype within a very tight budget.
The answer
The pallet was constructed from three component levels using litho laminated 2000 micron card. Each level was die-cut to accommodate the different products, which were then either locked in place or held from above and below. Each component level was locked together onto the base pallet to ensure a solid finished product.
